UNOFFICIAL H.S. Playoff Standings after Week 7 Saturday action (Updated)

Editor’s Note: This post has been updated with our latest calculations, checked with NJ.com, which does the official calculations for the NJSIAA.

Now that all but one Week 7 high school football game in New Jersey has been completed – Florence at Maple Shade was rescheduled from Friday to Monday night at 6:00 due to the threat of inclement weather – Central Jersey Sports Radio has done its own unofficial playoff calculations including the results of those games.

This season’s playoff coverage – both leading up to and in the postseason – is proudly presented by Dayton Collision on Route 130 in South Brunswick! That includes all our analysis over the next few weeks, as well as our LIVE Playoff Projection Show, scheduled for Saturday evening, October 23rd, and tentatively set for 6 pm.

Scores were compiled from multiple sources, and all the data checks out with the official calculations performed by NJ.com for the NSIAA. We still have one discrepancy as of 8 pm Sunday, which is that Bordentown is receiving a different value for a forfeit win over Robbinsville. We believe that’s an error, and will follow up throughout the week.

There also were additional updates Sunday by NJ.com to its standings, many of which stemmed from an incorrect score being reported that had Matawan beating Toms River East 42-7, when the final score was 48-7. Additionally, our earlier SI value for St. John Vianney was different, due to a score change from last week that was adjusted after we pulled scores on Sunday evening. Originally, the score was posted as 32-28, but it was changed to 32-29.

Keep in mind, there will be some changes coming this week when the out-of-state opponent SI values are adjusted and locked in. Also note that the SI values for all New Jersey teams after Week 7 will be locked in for Week 8 and will not change when Cutoff Weekend games are played.

SI changes every week, based on the score of each game, relative to each team’s rating. Those will continue to be calculated all year, through every team’s final game, but for playoff qualification purposes, nothing changes as a result of Cutoff Weekend games; the value after the game is the same as the value before. All that matters next week in every game is who wins and who loses.

Finally, we have not settled any tiebreakers or performed any head-to-head comparisons in our standings below. (For example, in South Group 1, Schalick is in second behind Paulsboro, but Schalick beat them head-to-head this season, and would jump them to get the overall top seed.

Here are the unofficial standings for all public school supersections, North and South in Groups 1 through 5. We’ll have further analysis this week, once the out-of-state SI values are adjusted. We’ll also have an unofficial standings update Friday night/Saturday morning after Thursday’s and Friday’s games are in.

Depending on time constraints, we may do some light analysis before Saturday afternoon’s games, but we’ll have full projected brackets for all ten public school sections on our Playoff Projection Show, presented by Dayton Collision. That show is tentatively set for 6 pm.

We have not performed any head-to-head jumps in the standings, but tiebreakers are in the right order. For example, NJ.com shows Union behind Ridgewood, but since they did not play and have no common opponents, tiebreaker goes to the team with the higher OSI, which is Union. So, we have the Farmers ahead.
