It’s Week 4 – and the halfway point of the high school football season in New Jersey and the Big Central – and it’s time to talk about it all with Central Jersey Sports Radio analyst Marcus Borden!

We open the show looking back at last week’s games, Elizabeth’s big win over St. Joseph and Old Bridge winning a battle at home against St. Thomas Aquinas.

We also took a look at some of the “resurgent” teams in the Big Central, including Elizabeth, Rahway, Hillside, Union, Highland Park, Perth Amboy, Piscataway and Monroe.

Then it’s into this week’s contests featured on CJSR, including Edison at Summit, Rahway at Cranford, South Plainfield at Carteret, and Phillipsburg at St. Joseph-Metuchen, as well as Friday night’s game between Piscataway and Old Bridge.

Borden also shared recent observations on inconsistencies with application of the running clock rule, and then we moved on to breakdown the three Top Ten games in the Big Central this week, including No. 8 St. Thomas Aquinas at No. 4 Old Bridge – which he’ll be covering – as well as our Bellamy & Son Paving Game of the Week Friday between No. 7 Elizabeth and No. 2 St. Joseph-Metuchen, plus No. 9 Ridge and their visit to No. 5 Bridgewater-Raritan.

The episode concludes with “breaking news” that emerged during our Wednesday taping, that the NJSIAA would host all state finals at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, throwing some potential chaos into the mix for Thanksgiving Day teams that reach the state championships.

We open the show looking back at last week’s games, including Coach Borden’s trips to see Bound Brook at Dayton, Governor Livingston at Monroe, and Saturday’s huge clash between St. Joseph-Metuchen and Bridgewater-Raritan, while also delving into Piscataway’s solid defensive effort – and Zaire Young’s big rushing performance – in a Top Ten win over Somerville Thursday heard live on Central Jersey Sports Radio.

Then we look at this week’s destinations for Coach Borden. That includes an intriguing matchup Thursday night between JP Stevens and Highland Park – both 2-0 for the first time in the same season since 2002 – as well as Friday’s Belvidere-Dunellen tussle.

It’s time for the 2026 high school football season in New Jersey to kickoff, and it’s time to talk about it with Marcus Borden!

But we begin the show talking about the new NJSIAA football classifications for the next two seasons, which have eight teams finding new sections, moving up or down based on enrollment and a balancing of the number of teams in each section.

Then we get into the games, with the majority of Big Central Conference teams opening up this weekend. That includes our two Bellamy & Son Paving Big Central Game of the Week broadcasts: Thursday at 6 pm as 2025 North 2, Group 5 champion Bridgewater-Raritan travels to Woodbridge, and Friday at 7 when New Brunswick visits Highland Park. Then we talk about the games Coach Borden will cover, including Thursday night’s tussle in Alexandria between North Hunterdon and host Delaware Valley, as well as Friday afternoon’s “Battle at the Beach” game in Ocean City, featuring 2025 Central Jersey Group 5 finalist Old Bridge facing Shawnee.

Well, that’s about it for the Big Central Conference! The last two teams – Phillipsburg and Bridgewater-Raritan – were eliminated from the playoffs in the group semifinal stage last week, and we talk about it all with Central Jersey Sports Radio analyst Marcus Borden!

Mike and Marcus first take a look playoff losses for the Panthers and Stateliners, but reflect back on their excellent seasons as well, before looking ahead to the annual Phillipsburg-Easton game on Thanksgiving, as well as the final Turkey Day meeting between Roselle and Roselle Park, which Marcus will be covering for Central Jersey Sports Radio. And we tease ahead to postseason awards, which will be coming out over the next few weeks to put a wrap on the 2025 high school football season!
