Metuchen won the 88th meeting with its arch-rival Metuchen, shutting out the Owls 29-0 to snap a two-game losing streak.  The Bulldogs trail the all-time series 61-26-1, but have won the last seven dating back to 2017.

Junior quarterback Brody Nugent ran for three touchdowns and threw for another as No. 7 Old Bridge won its 14th straight “Battle of Route 18,” beating visiting East Brunswick 31-7 at Vince Lombardi Field. The Knights now lead the all-time series with the Bears 24-7.

Aidan Stieglitz ran for three touchdowns as Ridge dominated the run game against No. 1 Phillipsburg, rushing for over 300 yards while holding the Stateliners under the century mark for the first time this season in a 28-21 win. It was Ridge’s first win over P’burg in ten tries, with its last victory coming in 2003.

Nick DiEsso’s touchdown run with 1:39 remaining turned out to be the difference in Bridgewater-Raritan’s 52-48 road win over No. 6 Piscataway in Week One action. DiEsso also had a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to start the second half, which the Chiefs’ Jahai Johnson answered with one of his own, his second of the night. He finished with three kick returns for scores in a losing effort.
