Big Central Schedule for Week 9: All but two BCC playoff teams open Friday, plus 13 consolation games on tap

It’s time for the first round of the NJSIAA high school football playoffs, but before that gets started, Thursday is a day for consolation games.

There are 16 BCC teams playing consolation games, six of which are all-Big Central matchups, and one was on Wednesday afternoon, as Westfield finished its season at 2-8 with a 36-12 road win on the blue turf at Colonia, led by 134 passing yards and two touchdown passes from QB Max Hymans. Colonia’s season ends at 2-8.

Then, on Friday, 27 of the 29 Big Central schools that qualified for the playoffs will be in action in 26 games. The only all-league matchup is 8th-seed Linden at top-seed Elizabeth in North Jersey, Section 2, Group 5.

Below is a look at the Thursday consolation and Friday/Saturday playoff schedule in the Big Central Conference. Only games involving Big Central Conference teams are here. For the full schedule of games in all public school sections in the entire state, click here.
