As a senior, John Wargo has been through the battles.
The Phillipsburg senior runningback/linebacker-turned-defensive end has been through the wars, has a win over Easton, and played in a state sectional title game last year.
This Friday night? The goal is to bring that trophy home.
It didn’t happen last year, as the Stateliners were upset by West Orange at Maloney Stadium, but Wargo and the rest of his P’burg teammates are bent on making sure that doesn’t happen again.
It’ll sure be a tough task when Union City comes out to the far reaches of Warren County Friday night for the North 2, Group 5 title game. Both teams are excellent, run the ball a lot, and are 9-1 on the season.
