Big Central Conference teams won’t be helping anyone around the state in the residual department this Cutoff Weekend.
Every team in the 59-school league has played at least seven games, so no one can get any residuals from any BCC teams winning this weekend. NJSIAA rules cap residuals to the first seven games played by an opponent against NJSIAA member schools.
There are very few teams around the state – 17, to be exact – who will be giving residuals this weekend, by our unofficial count. By conference, they are:
- Shore Conference (4): Manasquan, Middletown South, Neptune, Red Bank Regional
- West Jersey Football League (7): Audubon, Florence, Gloucester Catholic, Pitman, Riverside, Steinert, Woodbury
- Super Football Conference (6): Dickinson, Dover, Immaculata, Passaic Valley, Ramapo, Tenafly
The NJIC also has no teams able to provide residuals, as all its squads have played at least seven games.
One caveat: We did not include teams that are in the “Ivy” divisions, which are ineligible for the playoffs by NJSIAA rule because they were given a “relief” schedule. Nor did we include non-public multiplier teams, as their power point amounts are fixed, and residuals are only considered when seeding the non-public brackets. And even those are only used as a guide, as the sections are seeded by committee, not the UPR system down to the numbers.
