Middlesex pulls off only upset in GMC Boys’ Tournament, as Blue Jays and seven others advance to first round

The Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament’s preliminary round saw seven of the eight higher seeds advance and one upset.

In preliminary round play on Tuesday night, 19th-seed Middlesex got by 14th-seed Edison 52-48, earning the right to play at third-seed South River in the first round on Thursday night. The Blue Jays fell to the Rams twice this season, by 32 and 21 points. But Middlesex has won two straight in the GMCT.

Tyler Hurling led the way for Middlesex in the win with 21 points, while Jayden Peryear added another 14 points in the win.
