Kente Edwards is slowly getting his way back into the lineup, but North Hunterdon may not have really needed him Friday night.

In an opening round North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 playoff game, the top-seeded Lions got by 8th-seed Middletown North 34-7 on the strength of two touchdown catches by Derek Vaddis, and three touchdown passes from Luke Martini, while also getting a rushing touchdown from Edwards’ backfield mate Alex Uryniak, all after Danny DeLusant’s touchdown catch opened the scoring.

That built North Hunterdon a 34-0 nothing lead before Middletown North could get on the board, just once.

North Hunterdon – now 9-1 – will host 5th-seed Morris Hills next Friday night at 7 pm. Morris Hills won at 4th-seed Colonia Friday night, 35-14, breaking away after the score was tied at 14-all at halftime.
