After every high school baseball team in New Jersey had a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they all were affected in some way, large or small, when play resumed as normal as could be in 2021. And for the 20 teams who won state sectional titles a year ago, that’s a little more experience for those who returned to their teams this year.
That’s the case for Ridge, the defending North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 champion, which can take another step towards repeating as champs Saturday afternoon when the 2nd-seeded Red Devils (23-3) take on 7th-seed Bridgewater-Raritan (15-12) in the sectional quarterfinals.

That game can be heard on Central Jersey Sports Radio, with Mike Pavlichko calling all the action from Basking Ridge. First pitch is set for 2:00, with pregame at 1:45; click here to listen live.
It will be the fourth meeting of the year between the two Delaware Division opponents. Ridge won all three, 10-2 back in mid-April, 3-1 in the Somerset County Tournament semifinals, and 5-3 just a week later.
