There was nothing terribly surprising about the second round of the Somerset County Tournaments Saturday, neither on the boys’ nor girls’ sides. And now, everyone else will get involved in the county tournament when it resumes Tuesday with both sides playing quarterfinal games at higher seeds, the top four teams that get double-byes.
In fact, many of the same schools are still alive in both tournaments. Seven schools have both squads still in play, including Hillsborough, Bound Brook, Franklin, Watchung Hills, Montgomery, Rutgers Prep and Gill St. Bernard’s. The only one-team schools are Immaculata (girls) and Ridge (boys).
Quarterfinal Scores – Boys:
- 9-Hillsborough def. 8-Immaculata, 49-46
