The Rutgers Prep girls’ basketball team is all smiles with its 2021 Skyland Conference Tournament Blue Division trophy. Rutgers Prep and Franklin open CJSR’s 2021-22 broadcast schedule Friday night.
While COVID-19 may still be around, high school basketball in New Jersey will largely be back to normal for the 2020-21 season – its first full season in three years – and Central Jersey Sports Radio will be along for the ride.
CJSR will carry a minimum 12-game regular season broadcast slate, with additional broadcasts to be added throughout the season. It’ll be a mix of girls’ and boys’ basketball in the Greater Middlesex and Skyland Conferences, with coverage of both the GMC and Somerset County Tournaments, plus the NJSIAA State Tournament.
The season opens Friday, December 17, and we’ll open the season with two of the top girls’ teams in the area: Rutgers Prep and Franklin. Mike Pavlichko and Justin Sontupe will have the call at 7 pm with pregame at approximately 6:50 from Franklin High School. Other top girls’ teams on the schedule include Gill St. Bernards, Bound Brook, Mt. St. Mary’s and Middlesex.
Featured boys’ teams include 2021 GMC top pod winner Colonia, and runner-up St. Thomas Aquinas, as well as rivalry games like St. Joseph-Metuchen vs. East Brunswick and Somerville vs. Bound Brook. We’ll also have coverage of the Skyland-GMC Challenge at Bound Brook High School to benefit local charities.

Coverage will also include the GMC Tournament Girls’/Boys’ Championship Doubleheader at Monroe High School on Friday, February 25th, as well as the Somerset County Tournament Girls’/Boys’ Championship Doubleheader at Mongtomery High School on Saturday, February 26th.
Central Jersey Sports Radio will also cover games in the NJSIAA State Tournament, as available, to be announced as the tournament is seeded and unfolds.
