South Jersey broadcaster has high praise for Edison after Battle at the Beach win over Cedar Creek

The state playoffs at the high school level – particularly in basketball – sometimes come down to matchups more than who might have more talent or be a better team on paper. So it’s always interesting to see how teams stack up when they meet someone out of the area.

That was one reason Edison football coach Matt Fulham scheduled the Eagles to play Cedar Creek in the Battle at the Beach showcase down in Ocean City this past weekend.

Though they lost most of their starters from last year’s state championship team that went 13-0, the Pirates are a “program.” Taking a long bus ride down to Ocean City – a two hour-plus ride on a summer Sunday – and playing in front of a big Cedar Creek crowd – Fulham knew it would still be a challenge.

And Edison was well up to the task. But don’t take his word for it, or ours.

We caught up with Nick Kosko, who called the YouTube live stream of the Edison-Cedar Creek game on Cape Atlantic Live. He covers high school sports in the area, college athletics for 24/7 Sports, and is the voice of Rutgers wrestling on BTN+. A Rutgers alum, he’s also a former student of mine at WRSU, the Rutgers University campus radio station. Click below to hear his words of praise for Edison in their matchup with Cedar Creek:
