After losing a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh, third-seed Old Bridge rallied for six runs in the top of the eighth, coming back to beat second-seed Middlesex, 9-3, in the Jim Muldowney GMC Tournament semifinals. The win puts the Knights back in the title game for the second time in three years, having won it in 2024.

Catcher Justin Mangano drove in the lone run of the game, while Ben Faigin threw a complete game, one-hitter, striking out 13 in a 1-0 win for ninth-seed Monroe over fifth-seed South Plainfield in the Jim Muldowney GMC Tournament Semifinals. It’ll be Monroe’s first time in the GMC title game since 2017.

Top-seed Edison got two triples and four RBI’s from Sam Kentos, and a five-inning one-hitter and 14 strikeouts from Connor Muprhy, in a 10-0 win over 17th-seed Piscataway Magnet in the first round of the GMC Jim Muldowney Championship Tournament, advancing to the quarterfinals.

INSTANT REPLAY: No. 2 Middlesex 4, No. 5 Colonia 0

The second-ranked Middlesex Blue Jays got four runs on three singles and a double in the second inning, and got a strong complete-game performance from starter Dom Long, to beat the No. 5 Colonia Patriots 4-0 in the GMC White Division finale for both teams.

After East Brunswick tied the game with a run in the top of the seventh on a passed ball with the bases loaded, Woodbridge left fielder Michael Gurovich worked out a five pitch walk – also with the bases loaded – to give the Barrons a walk-off win over the Bears in the opener of their two-game set Tuesday in GMC Red Division play.

Monmouth-bound senior Connor Murphy threw a no-hitter, striking out 13, in a 4-0 win over St. Joseph-Metuchen in GMC Red Division action. It came seven years to the day after he tossed a no-no in the Fords Clara Barton Baseball League as a ten-year-old, a game in which he also struck out 13.
