Anyone looking for one-stop shopping to see many of the top teams in New Jersey high school basketball this 2025-26 season need look no further than Somerset County this weekend.
This Saturday – for the second straight year – Montgomery High School in Skillman will host the New Jersey Basketball Coaches Association Tip-Off Classic, featuring 14 teams in seven games running from late morning until well after the sun goes down.
Then, on Sunday, Rutgers Prep School in Somerset will host the girls’ side of the event, with eight teams in four top matchups.
The boys’ slate features all public vs. non-public matchups, while the girls’ schedule on Sunday features three all-public matchups before Red Bank Catholic closes it out against Neumann Goretti (PA).

NJBCA Boys Tip-Off Classic – Saturday, December 13 at Montgomery H.S.
- 10 am: Gill St. Bernard’s vs. Madison
- 11:30 am: Rutgers Prep vs. Linden
- 1 pm: St. Joseph-Montvale vs. Plainfield
- 2:30 pm: Hudson Catholic vs. Ramapo
- 4 pm: St. Peter’s Prep vs. Colonia
- 5:30 pm: Don Bosco Prep vs. Montgomery
- 7 pm: Seton Hall Prep vs. Manasquan
NJBCA Girls-Tip-Off Classic – Sunday, December 14 at Rutgers Prep School, Somerset
- 10:30 am: Verona vs. Hackettstown
- 12 noon: Gill St. Bernard’s vs. Westfield
- 1:30 pm: Rumson-Fair Haven vs. Chatham
- 3 pm: Red Bank Catholic vs. Neumann Goretti (PA)
