Senior Matthew Scerbo, Jr., caught one of those TD passes, and also caught one from the Hillsborough QB, a 75-yard pick six in a three-touchdown second quarter that gave Phillipsburg a 35-14 lead at the half.

Hillsborough made it interesting with a couple of fourth quarter touchdown passes, but P’burg hung on for the win.

No. 1 Woodbridge 42, Linden 12

The newly-minted top team in the Central Jersey Sports Radio Top Ten got three pick-sixes – including two from Bryan Anderson, a 40-yarder in the first quarter and a 97-yarder in the third – en route to another win, giving the Barrons a 5-0 start.

They won six in a row to start the 2021 season, finishing 7-3 under Joe LaSala with an opening round playoff loss to Ridge.

Jahmir Beal added touchdown runs of 40 and five yards, while Jeremiah Colon had the third interception return for a touchdown, coming in the thrird quarter.

The Barrons visit Perth Amboy (1-4) next week, while Linden (1-4) has lost three straight since a Week One shutout of Sayreville, and hosts winless Montgomery (0-5) next Saturday afternoon.
