After stepping down in late March as head football coach at Woodbridge High School, Joe LaSala has landed in North Jersey, as FDU-Florham announced Tuesday it’s hired LaSala to coach wide receivers.

LaSala spent six seasons as head coach of the Barrons before resigning on March 26th. “I’ve worked every single day for the last six years, and just recently had my first daughter,” LaSala said at the time.

He was 37-20 across six seasons, debuting with a 5-5 campaign in 2018. But the next year, Woodbridge followed up with a 10-1 season in 2019 – its best season under LaSala – which featured a trip to the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 4 finals. The Barrons lost in the title game at Northern Highlands.

Joe LaSala played for his father, Ben, when he was the coach at Colonia. Ben LaSala became Athletic Director in 2013, and just retired at the end of this school year.

The FDU-Florham Devils were 5-5 last season under head coach Anthony Van Curen, who was interim head coach in 2022 when the team went 6-5. They’ll open the 2024 season on Friday, September 6th, with a 7 pm home game against William Paterson.
