The threat of rain – more specifically, thunderstorms – is forcing some area baseball teams to be proactive in rescheduling their state first round tournament games.
Non-public schools begin play Wednesday, with public first round action taking place on Thursday. But as of 8 pm Tuesday, The Weather Channel’s forecast for the greater New Brunswick area calls for a high of 85 degrees with scattered thunderstorms developing in the afternoon. It could also bring gust winds, and small hail.
So far, more than a half dozen schools have moved their games up one day. Below is a list of games that have been rescheduled, some of which simply have been moved to earlier Thursday (or may have originally scheduled earlier than usual). Please check back as this list will be updated if additional games are moved:
- CJ4: (12) East Brunswick at (5) Monroe, Wednesday at 4 pm
- CJ2: (13) South River at (4) Carteret, Wednesday at 4 pm
- CJ1: (16) Somerset Tech at (1) Pt. Pleasant Beach, Wednesday at 4 pm
- CJ1: (12) New Egypt at (5) Middlesex, Wednesday at 4 pm
- CJ1: (10) Palmyra at (7) Manville, Thursday at 11 am
- CJ1: (14) Highland Park at (3) South Hunterdon, Wednesday at 4 pm
- N2-G4: (13) Perth Amboy at (4) Westfield, Wednesday at 4:30 pm
- N2-G4: (14) JP Stevens at (3) Ridge, Wednesday at 4 pm
- N2-G2: (10) Rutherford at (7) Bernards, Wednesday at 4 pm
Please check back for any additional changes as we hear of them.
