Bridgewater-Raritan’s Crimmins tosses a no-no, Immaculata wins on a walk-off, and Watchung Hills outlasts Rutgers Prep with 11th inning walkoff on a wild day in the SCT quarterfinals

It was an exciting day in the Somerset County Tournament quarterfinal round Thursday, which had a little something for everybody.

Top-seed Bridgewater-Raritan advanced to Monday’s semifinals with an 11-0 win over 8-seed Montgomery, with Owen Crimmins pitching a no-hitter in a five-inning ten-run rule victory.

The Panthers will be seeking their first trip to the finals since they lost 4-3 in 12 innings to Hillsborough in the 2012 title game.

Bridgewater-Raritan’s opponent in the semis will be fourth-seed Watchung Hills. The Warriors got by 13th-seed Rutgers Prep – which had logged six straight upsets dating back to last year, when they won the SCT as a 12-seed – in eleven innings, with a 1-0 win on a walk-off, two-out, bases loaded single by Jacob Jaconsky.

It was a pitcher’s duel of epic proportions as starters Max Treonze for Prep and sophomore Rob Centamore battled it out, Centamore throwing nine innings, allowing just three hits, and striking out nine.
