With the Greater Middlesex Conference boys’ basketball quarterfinals moved to Saturday to avoid late games conflicting with the Super Bowl, league officials have announced start times for the boys’ and girls’ games.
The league waited to see who would be participating to avoid any conflicts with a girls’ and boys’ team from the same school playing at the same time – such as Colonia, which is alive in both brackets and has the No. 2 seed on each side.
Here are the times of games, announced Friday morning by the league:
Boys’ Quarterfinals at Piscataway High School:
- 10 am: (3) Monroe vs. (6) South Plainfield
- Noon: (1) St. Joseph-Metuchen vs. (9) Timothy Christian
- 2 pm: (4) St. Thomas Aquinas vs. (12) East Brunswick
- 4 pm: (2) Colonia vs. (7) Woodbridge
Girls’ Quarterfinals at Spotswood High School:
- 11 am: (2) Colonia vs. (7) East Brunswick
- 1 pm: (6) South Brunswick vs. (14) Middlesex
- 3 pm: (4) North Plainfield vs. (5) Monroe
- 5 pm: (1) St. Thomas Aquinas vs (8) Spotswood
Next week, the semifinals will be at Monroe Township High School. The girls are on Tuesday, and the boys are on Wednesday. The top-seed side of the bracket will play in the second game at 7 pm, with the opener at 5 pm.
The finals will also be at Monroe High School, with the girls’ final at 6 pm and the boys’ final at 8 pm.
