Kashiff Foster is no stranger to Franklin Basketball.
He played his high school ball at Franklin and in-town neighbor Rutgers Prep. Then after a college career at Felician, returned back to his alma mater as an assistant, then worked under Matt Bloom at Prep, and under head coach Tony Mento at Franklin.
Now, he’s got the title to the car, while seniors Cam and Elisha Brown have the keys.
They’re the two biggest pieces back from last year’s 17-11 team. Losing top scorer Cam Snowden (17.1 ppg) and three-point specialist Jake Novielli (74 treys) is a blow, no doubt.
But Elisha averaged 6.3 points per game last season, and was the team’s second-best rebounder (5.4 per game), while Cam is the top returning scorer. He averaged 13.5 points per game a season ago, but is just a shade under 20 over the first two games of the season. He also has six treys already, after hitting 37 (second best on last year’s team) a year ago.
Already, new scorers have emerged, like senior Devon Riddick (7.5 ppg) and Ajani Peck-Wekunda (5 ppg), while Keith Morris runs the point to round out a roster that hopes to challenge in the Skyland Delaware Division.
And, already, Hillsborough has made waves, coming up with a one-point opening night win at home over 6th-ranked Gill St. Bernard’s (0-1, 0-1 Skyland Delaware). A second division loss for the Knights would virtually kill their top-seed hopes, with rematches against Franklin and Hillsborough on the schedule and just one meeting with Rutgers Prep before the seeding meeting on February 5th.
But 8th-ranked Franklin (1-1) can hand them that loss, and not just play spoiler. They can throw themselves right into the thick of things themselves with a win Tuesday night up in the Hills, a game you can hear on Central Jersey Sports Radio with Mike Pavlichko and Chris Tsakonas calling all the action. Pre-game is 6:45 and tip off is 7 pm. Click here to listen.
