Red Division champion North Brunswick was awarded the top seed in the Greater Middlesex Conference for the first time ever.
The Raiders – who won their first evert GMCT as the six-seed – were a unanimous top pick, going 10-5 overall, 8-4 in the GMC Red. They were followed by the three Red Division teams tied for second behind them, with Old Bridge getting the two-seed, St. Joseph-Metuchen the three-seed, and Monroe getting picked fourth.
Seeds five through eight went to Sayreville, Woodbridge, South Plainfield and East Brunswick, in that order. The GMC Red got six of the top eight seeds, while the White Division got two.
With the tournament expanded to 20 teams this year, the first round features teams 13 through 20 playing first round games Saturday. That means teams 1 through 12 get a bye. The remaining four teams were Edison, Middlesex, Spotswood and South Brunswick.

First-round games will be played at higher seeds on Saturday, with times determined by the home teams. Some games could be later, as Saturday is an SAT testing day.
Monday’s second round games are also at higher seeds, with Wednesday’s quarterfinals to be held at Community Park in North Brunswick. The two highest seeds remaining will play the 7 pm games, with the next two highest seeds remaining scheduled for the 4 pm games.
The semifinals will be held Saturday, May 13th. at East Brunswick Magnet High School, which also will host the finals, the following Saturday, May 20th.
Central Jersey Sports Radio will broadcast two of the quarterfinal games, as well as both semifinals and the finals.
In the GMC Invitational, the top-seed went to South Amboy, with Somerset Tech getting the two, East Brunswick Magnet the three, and Perth Amboy the four-seed. All get first-round byes.

First Round:
9-Highland Park at 8-Timothy Christian, winner at 1-South Amboy
12-New Brunswick at 5-North Plainfield, winner at 4-Perth Amboy
11-Wardlaw-Hartridge at 6-Dunellen, winner at 3-East Brunswick Magnet
10-Perth Amboy Magnet at 7-Piscataway Magnet, winner at 2-Somerset Tech
First-round game will be played next Tuesday, May 9th. The quarterfinals are Thursday, May 11th, and the semifinals are on Monday, May 15th. All those games will be played at the higher seeds, with the finals to be held at Edison High School on Friday, May 19th.
