SCT semifinals moved to daytime to avoid potential conflicts with other school events

Spring is a busy time of year in high schools across New Jersey. There are senior trips, proms, and countless other activities that go on.

For that reason, the Somerset County Tournament has moved its baseball semifinal games earlier in the day on Thursday, April 27th. Instead of 4 and 7 pm, they’ll now be held at 1 and 4 pm.

Baseball director Tom Gambino, the Athletic Director at Immaculata High School, says the change had nothing to do with the availability of TD Bank Ballpark. The Somerset Patriots – the Yankees’ AA affiliate – are on the road that week, in the middle of a six-game series at Harrisburg.

Gambino says the park is an excellent venue, and a great opportunity not only for the teams that play there in the tournament, but also for fans and players around the league to come watch high school baseball in a pro environment, at high school ticket prices.

Of course, Central Jersey Sports Radio will have full coverage and live play-by-play of the semifinals and finals of the Somerset County Tournament, with the semis on April 27th, and the finals on May 9th, also at TD Bank Ballpark.
