Somerset County Tournament boys’ quarters are set, as Bound Brook, Ridge, Watchung Hills and Franklin make the final eight

The second round of the Somerset County Tournament is complete, with four teams advancing to Tuesday’s quarterfinals at the site of the higher seeded teams, which all await after double byes in the bracket.

#6 Ridge 56, #11 Bridgewater-Raritan 38: The Red Devils (18-4) got 13 points apiece from Luke Kreitz and Troy Barrett in the win over the Panthers (7-15), while Nikola Borovcanin chipped in eight points and eleven rebounds. Ridge moves on to visit third-seed Immaculata in Somerville on Tuesday.

#7 Watchung Hills 86, #10 Pingry 84 (2 OT): This one was a classic, as the teams played tight throughout. The Big Blue (12-8) held a 12-11 lead after one quarter, but were down 29-24 at the half to the Warriors (12-9). They ended regulation tied at 61, and went to a second overtime tied at 73. But the Warriors got the edge int he second extra period. Two Watchung Hills players tied for game-high honors with 24 points: John Kelly and Aleck Grad, while Brayden Kolakowski chipped in with 19, and Tommy Morris added 10. Trey Maultsby led Pingry – which has been a pesky team all year – with 23, while Caleb Polanco added 20 in defeat. Hills moves on to play at 2-seed Gill St. Bernard’s Tuesday night in the quarterfinals.

#8 Bound Brook 77, #9 Montgomery 54: The Crusaders (19-3) continued their excellent season thanks to a mammoth game from senior Jordan Summers, who matched a second-best season-high 38 points in the victory. Jackson Morrison added 15, while Jordan Robinson scored 20. Ethan Lin had 18 to lead the Cougars (11-13) in the losing cause. The Crusaders move on to take on top-seed Rutgers Prep Tuesday in Somerset.

#5 Franklin 89, #13 Bernards 64: The Warriors (15-9) are a win away from matching last season’s 16-win total – their best in over a decade – thanks in part to a career-high 32 point day from Jake Novielli, Three other players ended up in double figures: Cameron Snowden with 17, Cam Brown with 12 and Elisha Brown with 10. Bernards drops to 10-14 with the loss. The Warriors will visit 4-seed Hillsborough Tuesday night in the SCT quarterfinals.
