Of the 17 games played in the “play-in” round of the GMC Tournament – boys and girls, only two lower seeds lost. And they could barely be considered upsets, as they were the 24- vs. 25-seed games in both the girls’ and boys’ brackets.
On the boys’ side, #25 JFK won at #24 Highland Park 61-58 this afternoon. In the girls’ tournament, it was #25 Carteret over #24 Sayreville on the road, 46-33.
Below are the results from Saturday play, with two games scheduled for tonight: #26 New Brunswick at #23 Calvary Christian on the boys’ side, and #27 Wardlaw-Hartridge at #22 Calvary Christian (Old Bridge) in the girls’ bracket. Following today’s results are matchups for the preliminary rounds, which take place Monday for the girls and Tuesday for the boys.
