Following a two-week hiatus due to a couple of COVID cases in the Bound Brook school district, the Crusaders football team was at LaMonte Field Thursday night getting ready for their first game off the break, a road clash with Brearley Friday night.

In between the crash of pads and helmets came the sound of toys landing in a big cardboard crate near the west goal post.

The LEP Beyond Sports Foundation’s “Go The Extra Yard” Toy Drive continued Thursday night, with families dropping off toys for needy families. The drive is still going on with games this weekend and around Thanksgiving, and collections ongoing through Friday, the 27th.

Toys collected by the Bound Brook football team at Thursday night’s practice will go to needy families in Central Jersey this holiday season.

That’s plenty of time to stop at your favorite Black Friday sale and pick up some toys to donate, right?
