The 5-0 Woodbridge Barrons’ 21-0 win over St. Joseph of Metuchen Saturday was enough to maintain their top two standing in the North Group 4 supersection, giving them a top seed in a hypothetical North 4, Section 2 playoff bracket.
Woodbridge was no doubt helped by the 42 power points they received for beating the Falcons, a Category C multiplier team.
Three other area teams qualified for the “mock” playoff brackets based on UPR, all calculated exclusively – and unofficially – this year by Central Jersey Sports Radio.
Phillipsburg earned a 2-seed in North 1 Group 4, while Montgomery and Cranford also qualified, with the Cougars only getting a 4-seed in North 2 Group 4, despite a 5-1 record. That said, it’s a strong supersection, with four undefeated teams and five one-loss teams, accouting for more than half (9) of the 16 qualifiers overall.
