Bill Tracy is one of three coaches to bring a state championship to Ridge, the school where the mascot doesn’t match the nickname.
Andy West may very well be the fourth. Just not this year.
West coached under Tracy, who was at the Basking Ridge school for 11 years. The former defensive coordinator was named head coach in March, and appears to have a similar, methodical, analytical style to his work.
Still, Friday night, Ridge will play host to Hillsborough at Lee Field on the “Big Central Game of the Week powered by Bellamy & Son Paving” with a chance to finish the regular season 5-1. To finish 7-1, they’ll have to pick up a win Friday night, then win at Phillipsburg next Friday (the 13th), and do so again at home against South Brunswick (now 4-1) on the 20th.
