As county championship week gets underway, the 33 boys’ basketball coaches in the Greater Middlesex Conference met to pick their All-Division teams, with ten student-athletes ultimately earning All-GMC Honors from eight different schools, an example of how wide open this season has been in the league.

With the boys’ GMC Tournament semifinals set for Wednesday, three of those teams are represented on the All-Conference list, including Andrew Kretkowski and Aidan Carter of top-seed St. Joseph, Donald Nwaigwe of second-seed Piscataway, and Jayce Rodriguez of third-seed Colonia.

For All-Division, slots for honorees by team typically – but not always – depend on the order of finish; where division champs generally are afforded the most representation.

Jose Rodriguez of Colonia was named Coach of the Year in the GMC. Having lost two-time GMCT MVP Aiden Derkack to a transfer, leaving for Spire Academy in Ohio over the summer, as well as R.J. Wortman, an early enrolee to play football at Rutgers, along with a host of others, the Patriots started the season 2-6, but are 14-2 since, and a win away from their third straight trip to the county finals.
