One week later than the publics, the non-public football programs in New Jersey now know their seeding for the NJSIAA state tournament, which will kickoff for them next week.
Neither Big Central Conference parochial – St. Joseph-Metuchen, nor St. Thomas Aquinas got home games in the opening round.
The Falcons (8-1) received a five-seed out of the eight-team field in Non-Public North A, drawing fourth-seed Bergen Catholic (7-2). The Trojans (5-5) drew the tenth-seed of a 14-team field and will play Friday at seventh-seed Immaculata (8-2).
Here are the first-round matchups in each bracket:
Non-Public A (First Round is the weekend of November 14/15):
- #8 Seton Hall Prep at #1 Don Bosco Prep
- #5 St. Joseph-Metuchen at #4 Bergen Catholic
- #6 Delbarton at #3 St. Joseph-Montvale
- #7 St. Augustine at #2 St. Peter’s Prep
Non-Public B (First Round is the weekend of November 7):
- #9 Pope John at #8 St. John Vianney, winner at #1 DePaul
- #12 St. Mary-Rutherford at #5 Holy Spirit
- #13 Notre Dame at #4 Donovan Catholic
- #14 Hudson Catholic at #3 Red Bank Catholic
- #11 St. Joseph-Hammonton at #6 Paul VI
- #10 St. Thomas Aquinas at #7 Immaculata, winner at #2 Paramus Catholic
