The boys’ and girls’ basketball teams from Gill St. Bernard’s took the top seeds in the 2025 Somerset County Tournament for basketball Monday night, in voting by the league’s coaches at Immaculata High School in Somerville.
Gill’s sweep on both sides is its first since 2012, and they went on to sweep the SCT, winning both titles.
Rutgers Prep – whose girls got the second-seed and boys earned the three-seed – is the defending champ on both sides. The Argonaut boys have won two straight county titles, the girls three straight.
Each round of the tournament will be played on the same days, whether boys or girls, but this year, all rounds from the second round on will be played on successive Saturdays.
The opening round is on Thursday, January 30th at higher seeds, with the second round February 1st, and quarterfinals February 8th, also at higher seeds. New this year, the semifinals will be held at Franklin on Saturday, February 15th. Game time assignments will depend on the matchups, and be announced after the quarterfinals. Some of those games will be broadcast live on Central Jersey Sports Radio.
The Girls’ SCT Final will be at 1 pm at Montgomery on Saturday, February 22, with the Boys’ SCT Final at 3 pm. Central Jersey Sports Radio will broadcast both title games.
