With the book closed on another high school football season in New Jersey, we’re publishing the unofficial final Strength Index numbers for the entire state, top to bottom, as well as next year’s projected 2025 starting SI values.
While the official numbers are calculated by Gridiron New Jersey for the NJSIAA, we also run our own calculations using the same formula. Please not we do not guarantee accuracy, as our calculations are unofficial.
Strength Index is used to determine OSI, the Opponent Strength Index, which is 60 percent of the formula for playoff qualification; power points is the other 40 percent. Scroll further down to see an explanation of how SI is calculated.

As for next season, all SI values are recentered one third of the way to 60. A team with an SI higher than 60 would be lower to start 2025, while a team with an SI lower than 60 would see its value increase.
For example, a team with an SI of 90 would drop by 1/3 of the way to 60. The difference between 60 and 90 is 30 points, and one-third is 10, so that team would drop to an 80. Likewise, a team with an SI of 51 – which is nine points lower than 60 – would be reduced by one-third of that difference, or three points, and would see its SI increase to 54.
