For the third season in a row, the Middlesex College Colts have reached the 30-win mark.
Their eyes are set on something bigger, but one step at a time.
There are three important games this weekend, and if you think head coach CJ Mooney or his team are overlooking them, well, then you haven’t met CJ Mooney.
Sure, Middlesex is 30-20 on the year, and Union is just 3-33, but Mooney expects a fight, and he’s making it clear to his team they’re in for a battle.

But more importantly, the Colts may need all three games to earn a home date in the Region XIX playoffs. Seven teams are expected to make it, and the goal is to finish in the top four. To do that, Middlesex, which is 18-12 in Region XIX play, will need to hold off RCSJ-Cumberland, which is 15-12.
The first game is at home in Edison on Friday, and can be heard live on Central Jersey Sports Radio – presented by Edison Pizza & Restaurant – with Mike Pavlichko calling all the action. Pregame is set for 3:20, with first pitch set for 3:30; click here to listen.
After Friday, the series shifts to Union for the next two games, so getting off on the right foot in Edison will be paramount. Josh Horowitz (1-0, 6.00 ERA) will get the start in Game One of the series.
