Spotswood’s Fredricks wins No. 300 as Chargers use 7-run rally in 6th to beat Paulsboro

It would have been nice to do it at “The Swamp,” but honestly, Glenny Fredricks is more concerned about keeping his team in the win column, and keeping his Chargers on track for their season goals: a county and a state championship.

Then again, that mentality is the reason he was even in a position Friday to reach the milestone that he did.

After an 8-8 tie against Marlboro at home Thursday that was called due to darkness – the overcast skies didn’t help – the 5th-ranked Spotswood Chargers scored seven runs in the sixth inning to erase a 6-3 deficit and beat Paulsboro in the Thank You Classic at Bellmawr Friday, earning Fredricks his 300th career win.

The bigger picture is what Fredricks has his sights set on, and that’s the fact his team is still undefeated, 8-0-1 on the season now, heading into Sunday’s 10 am Autism Awareness Challenge game against South Brunswick, which can be heard live on Central Jersey Sports Radio. Click here to listen.

Fredricks’ all-time record now stands at 300-184-2. Incidentally, Mike Lepore – the head coach of Spotswood’s arch-rival, South River, which is 4-4 – is just five wins behind him at 295.
