Everything old is new again. ’90s music and pop culture is in again.

This fall, the Edison football team won its first state title since 1991. Now, South River gets the chance to do the same in boys’ basketball.

The darling, Cinderella – choose your adjective – of the Greater Middlsesex Conference this year fell one game shy of playing for the GMC Tournament title a week or so ago. But that won’t be their fate in the states.

That’s because the top-seeded Rams held off fourth-seed Bound Brook in the Central Jersey Group 1 semifinals, 72-66, to move on to the championship game on Tuesday, right back in their own gym.

After a nip-and-tuck first quarter, South River pulled out to a 40-28 halftime lead, but the Crusaders knotted things up at 61 headed into the fourth quarter.

The Rams will face either third-seed Raritan or 2nd-seed Manasquan at home Tuesday night on the CJ1 final at 7:00. Their semifinal takes place at 3 pm Saturday.
