After its inaugural season was shortened by COVID-19 – as was everyone else’s – and with no playoffs in which to make its mark, the fledgling Big Central Conference is making a “big” splash in 2021.
Central Jersey Sports Radio is proud to announce a partnership with the league to become the official home of live play-by-play of Big Central Conference football, thanks to a sponsorship deal with with Autoland of Springfield.
“We are extremely excited to have Autoland as our sponsor for the 2021 season,” said Scott Miller, the Big Central Conference President, who also is the Athletic Director and head football coach at David Brearley High School in Kenilworth.
“Autoland’s generosity has provided us with an opportunity to partner with Central Jersey Sports Radio and showcase our student-athletes of the BCC. We have a great football conference and great kids, and we are excited to promote both Statewide.”
“This is a game-changer. For us, and for the league,” said Central Jersey Sports Radio Founder and Owner Mike Pavlichko, who has broadcast live high school football week-in and week-out in Middlesex and Somerset Counties since 2000, and expanded to cover the entire Big Central last year, in the league’s inaugural season. “We’re grateful for Autoland’s generosity, and the confidence of the Big Central leadership, including Scott Miller, Colonia Athletic Director Ben LaSala and Bridgewater-Raritan Athletic Director John Maggio. This will help us bring more stories and experiences of BCC student-athletes to their classmates, fans, parents, and grandparents all across the country,” said Pavlichko.
“But perhaps most importantly,” Pavlichko added, “because of partnerships and sponsorships like this, we are able to keep Central Jersey Sports Radio free. I truly believe no parent should have to pay to hear their kid’s games on the radio, or listen to their interview online. We never want to be behind a paywall.”
Sponsored coverage will also include a weekly podcast that will drop on Thursdays during the season.
Live coverage of games will begin with a pair of contests on Week One, leading off with the return of Piscataway football from a one-year hiatus, as the Chiefs host one of the state’s premier programs – the Phillipsburg Stateliners – at the brand new Dominic Ciardi Stadiuim.
We’ll cap the weekend covering three Big Central teams in the “Rumble on the Raritan” showcase at Rutgers University’s SHI Stadium, as Bernards takes on Hillside on Sunday afternoon at 2 pm, followed by Somerville taking on Northern Highlands.
