Bernards coaching staff just crushed COVID, with an assist from Zoom

When it was discovered that Bernards Offensive Coordinator Dave Carmon (above, left) might have been in contact with someone with COVID, and that he’d have to sit out the Mountaineers’ Week 7 game against St. Thomas Aquinas, it was head coach Jon Simoneau who jokingly suggested having Carmon call the game from home, using Zoom.

After all, everyone else has been using the video conferencing technology for months.

But quickly, the staff realized there was a real possibility it could be done, with an assist from a connection at a Verizon store, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Bernards was A-OK, winning the game 41-6.
