AUDIO: Schiano won’t likely name QB starter until opener at Michigan State

Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano released the first two-deep of his second tenure as head coach of the Scarlet Knights, and he’s down to two quarterbacks for the opener in East Lansing.

He just won’t say who it is yet, and he may not even know himself.

“They’re competing,” Schiano told reporters on his first weekly Monday conference call of the season, referring to junior Art Sitkowski of Old Bridge or senior Noah Vedral.

“There’s a reason that it’s Art and Noah as the ‘or’ because they’ve kind of established themselves as the top two,” says Schiano. “But there’s not a big drop off.”

Schiano says he’s encouraged by what he’s seen so far from all the quarterbacks, including redshirt sophomore Johnny Langan – who started the last eight games of last season – as well as redshirt freshman Cole Snyder and true freshman Evan Simon.
